Damien Hirt’s Verity at Ilfracombe
Formed in 1974 the district of North Devon includes the beautiful towns and villages of Braunton, Fremington, Ilfracombe, Instow, South Molton, Lynton and Lynmouth and Woolacombe.
Close by to Crackaway Barton are the town and village of Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. The hilly town of ilfracombe is home to Damien hirst’s sculpture, Verity; and in contrast to this modern attraction you have the famous historic Tunnels Beaches which are hand carved tunnels leading to victorian bathing pools and sheltered beaches. In Ilfracombe you can also find the award winning all weather fun aquarium.
The multi award winning Woolacombe has a beach that has been voted ‘Best British Beach’ by the Mail on Sunday and holds the ‘England for Excellence Gold Award’ for best family resort. In this vibrant and lively village you have several great pubs, restaurants and shops.
A bit further a field the picturesque towns of Lynton and Lynmouth are worth a visit. The twin towns are connected by a water powered Cliff Railway which opened in 1890. Have several small shops and eateries.
